COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are we changing our name?
Over the last several months, our leadership team has been praying about the next season of our church. As we looked to the future, we felt a strong calling to choose a name that clearly reflects our primary identity and mission: we are a people gathered under the leadership of King Jesus, dedicated to living out His Kingdom in our community. King’s People Church perfectly captures who we are and who we are striving to become.
Is our church under new leadership or changing affiliation?
Not at all! We are the exact same church family, led by the same pastors, elders, and trustees. Our heart, our mission, and our local church culture remain unchanged. Furthermore, we remain a fully cooperative fellowship with the Assemblies of God and the Iowa Ministry Network. Our new legal name is officially King’s People Church, Assembly of God.
When does this name change become official?
Our leadership team announced the official proposal in May, and our membership voted to approve the new name on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Over the next few weeks, you will see us enter a soft transition as we update our building signage, website, social media, and administrative records.
I give by writing checks. Who do I make them out to?
For the next several months, you can write your checks to either our old name or our new name. Our bank accounts are being updated so that checks written to King’s People Church, King’s People, or our previous name will all be processed securely without any issues. However, as you get used to the new name, we encourage you to start addressing them to King’s People Church.
I give online or through recurring giving. Do I need to change anything?
If you have a recurring gift set up through our online giving platform, you do not need to do anything. The system will automatically update behind the scenes. You will notice the name on your digital receipts change to King’s People Church, but your financial settings will remain exactly as they are.
Will our website and email addresses change?
Yes. Our new website is moving to kingspeople.church. If you accidentally type in our old website address, lifepointe.cc, don’t worry—it will automatically redirect you to our new digital home. Our staff email addresses will also be updated to match our new domain, but any emails sent to our old addresses will be automatically forwarded to us for the next year.
How can I help with this transition?
The best way you can help is through your prayers and your ambassadorship. Change takes time, and it will take us a few weeks to swap out everything from kids' check-in screens to road signs. We would love for you to help us spread the word to your friends, neighbors, and anyone you invite to a Sunday gathering or House of Prayer.
